T

he castle was built to be the country

house of the Liedekerke family of

Beaufort in 1866 in the neo gothic style.

A luxurious imitation of Gothic 500 years

ago. It belonged to the family until the German invasion,

during the second war, when it was occupied by the Nazi

troops, there was also fighting on the property.

After the war was bought by the Belgian National

Railway Company and turned into a kind of holiday home

for children of weakened health. Around this time, the

castle was named Home de Noisy or Château de Noisy. In

the 70's it was transformed into home for vacation colony.

It was commanded only by women.

At the end of the eighties, its owners tried in

vain to turn it into a hotel, and in 1991 it was abandoned

and handed over to the Belgian government, who also

did not know what to do with it.
