MyEnglewood June 2019

JUNE 2019 THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF THE CITY OF ENGLEWOOD MyEnglewood © North Jersey Media Group 2019 Produced quarterly by Northern Valley Suburbanite | www.northjersey.com Definition of giving back NEWS & NOTES Recycle plastic bags Plastic bags are not accepted in curbside recycling bins because they get trapped in the sorting equipment at recycling facilities. Plastic bags that go to recycling facilities are thrown away, not recycled. And if recyclable items are placed in plastic bags, they are thrown away, too, at the beginning of the sorting process. Instead, bring your clean plastic grocery bags, newspaper sleeves, dry cleaning bags, and bread bags to a dedicated recycling bin at the Department of Public Works, Englewood Public Library, City Hall, Community Baptist Church, Municipal Court and Janis E. Dismus Middle School. The bags will be recycled by Trex, a company that manufactures eco-friendly composite decking and railing. Englewood will also receive a bench made from plastic bags. PHOTO/CITY OF ENGLEWOOD This spring Englewood Rotary Club distributed dictionaries to all third-grade classes at public and private schools in Englewood. Pictured here are four members of Rotary (center, back row) with students and teachers at one of the 11 third-grade classes at McCloud School.
