Another Cystic Fibrosis patient who refuses to be held back by her illness is Lucy. ‘I stand here today to give parents of children with CF hope,’ she says. She will celebrate her thirtieth birthday this November. Such milestones, while commonplace for the average person, are even more important for Cystic Fibrosis patients, who have a shortened life span. Her condition has taught her not to take life for granted. It has left her with the determination to make the most of the time she has. ‘Even if I don’t get to grow old, I have everything I want.
