As your new publishers, we are proud to be part of a publication that has a reputation as a quality educational magazine teachers, students and parents all love. Since we are mothers of young children ourselves, we know the positive impact My School Rocks! has had on both our school district and on our community here in Charlotte. For this, our 10th year of publication, we want to bring you even more of the quality content you have come to expect. Our plan is to expand your magazine beyond 48 pages and, beginning this December, to go from a bi-monthly to a monthly publication schedule during the school year. In addition to separate blogs for kids and adults, our Teacher Forum offers creative tips and ideas for both inside and outside the classroom. Our website also will feature educational games kids and parents (and educators) will enjoy. Check back often for special local discounts and giveaways from our sponsors. We also are developing an enhanced digital version of the print magazine to include multimedia, photo galleries and in-depth articles. Be sure to like us on Facebook, where we will be promoting upcoming issues and providing details on information and sources that are valuable to our readers. With our expanded content and more frequent publication, we will be able to invite more students to become Rockin’ Reporters. This fantastic program not only allows children the opportunity to meet some inspirational residents, celebrities, athletes and business owners in our community,
but it also gives them the chance to learn what it’s like to be a journalist. We will be including more in-depth features on Charlotte schools. These articles are a great way to promote the creative things teachers, administrators and students are doing right here in Charlotte. We also plan to feature more original work from our talented student readers. In My School Rocks! we will showcase the best creative writing, poetry, art and photography Charlotte students have to offer. To keep the academic value of the magazine strong, we are partnering with our local administrators, teachers, and parents, as well as educators from around the nation. We want My School Rocks! to be a free learning tool every student in every classroom can use. As you can tell, we are excited about the future of My School Rocks! There are few cities that can offer the balance of a metropolitan lifestyle with sports, entertainment and dining options that Charlotte has, along with its deep sense of community. Our schools, which are staffed by some of the finest teachers and administrators anywhere, are a huge part of what makes that community strong. No publication could be in business for 10 years without the partnership of generous and dedicated sponsors.
