Cognitive behavioural therapy can be helpful for children as young as six years. As
long as a child is old enough to understand their underlying thought problems, they
can benefit from this form of therapy. However, I may ask to have a few sit-ins with
you as the parent before tackling the child’s problems. These sessions with the
parent help to identify the root cause of the problem and make the child comfortable
enough to open up.
