The role of TP on a teacher training course
Why have teaching practice on a course?
You can learn teaching by discussing it and talking about materials and
techniques but, using a language effectively, you can’t learn it without
doing it. It is one thing to describe what you are going to do in a lesson,
before you teach students expect you to be able to do your job, there are
huge benefits in being able to try things out beforehand in a supportive
atmosphere like TP should provide. This is only way that the students can
practice the new lenguaje that they are learned by listening the teacher
as a guide and practicing by doing many activities.
What does TP practice?
It focuses on four areas:
1 Sensitivity to problems of language use for learners;
2 Sensitivity to how learners learn, the skills hey need, the strategies they
empoy and the problems they have;
3 Classroom management skills;
4 Teaching techniques
What are the objectives of TP?
The objectives depending on the overall aims of a particular course and
the stage that TP has reached, its objectives would normally be one or
more of the following:
To allow you to simulate or approach the realteaching situation under
sympathetic supervisión.
To provide you with an apportunity to try out techniques.
To provide you with an oportunity to have your teaching evaluated and
constructively criticiezed.
To help you develop your own teaching style because each person have
your own style.
To expose you to students at a range of levels and to develo pan
unerstanding of the differences of approach required.
How is what to do on TP decided?
The aim of a lesson should initially be identified for you. Some supervisors
like to give our beforehand a timetable or a syllabus of what you are to
