But now that the Sister Police and the
Skip Machine and Ms. Steinem have
buried some black male writers, members
of the volunteer black-feminist-whitemale auxiliary like Maurice Berger
think that the Sister Police would end
with the brothers? no! Now they going
after the Big House Canon. They
marching up the literary Mount Olympus
with they torches, Mr. Maurice Berger.
They want warning labels put on titles
that might hurt their feelings; that
might trigger bad emotions.17 So no
longer is it Amiri Baraka, Ishmael Reed
or those called out by the VV nest of
feminists: Bill Gunn, Ed Bullins, and
even James Baldwin. No, they talking
about the great scott fitzgerald
and pretty soon they’ll demand that
the great william shakespeare
might need a warning label and maybe
some of his plays banned. And what
of the great geoffrey chaucer’s
misogynist Romance Of The Rose?
The same guys who cheered the Sister
Police when they took us down
are now yelling and screaming about
censorship and political correctness.
