Economy
Finland's forest coverage rate is as high as 75%, the per capita forest area of up to 4.5 hectares, is the largest per capita forest area in Europe. Forestry is one of the pillar industries in Finland, the harvest requirements are also rising, but compared with the beginning of twentieth Century, Finland's timber resources has increased by about 60%. The sustainable development plays an important role in economic. Like after harvesting of trees, the thick part could be transported to the factory, the production of sawn timber and plywood; the thin part and the trees and branches for pulp and paper mill or as energy wood burning plants for local residents to heating; roots can also be used to dig out the use of machinery. The bark and pulp residue after pulping can also be burned, about 95% of the energy used for paper making, wood processing and plywood production of waste wood chips can be used as raw materials for pulp mills. Finland reduces the consumption of forest resources by maximizing the use of wood. That should be the reason why the Finnish make a great progress in forest economy.
