My French Country Home Magazine March/April 2019 | Page 3

Editor’s Letter H ere in northern France, March is the first real herald of spring. Temperatures may still be low, but our spirits are warmed by the first signs of spring color such as the magnolia trees in flower or the clouds of daffodils blooming in Parisian gardens. For gardeners, this is a time for great excitement. We dream about the year ahead and for the first time in many months can get outside to prepare the ground and begin to plant. In this issue we share a spectacular garden near the Belgian border, filled with yew topiaries and dazzling spring bulbs. Then we’re heading out west with our favorite tips and addresses for visiting the Brittany coast. Few places in the world are as photogenic as Mont-Saint-Michel, and rather than trying to do a day trip from Paris, we invite you to linger a little longer in this unique region. Food is on our minds, too. Eating seasonal, local food is essential to French culture, which is why we share five delicious recipes to make using asparagus, and also recipes for a complete meal brought to you by a young couple who are passionate about fine ingredients and their provenance. Our latest Artisan feature is an inside look at the prestigious and divine candles made by Cire Trudon. We are very happy to bring you a unique opportunity to purchase a boxed collection of their products. I hope you love this second edition of our magazine and that we truly put you in spring mode!
