Camping At One Of The Campgrounds If you did not make reservations, there is a good chance that the two major campgrounds will already be filled. That said, you could still check to see if there is a recently vacated site that nobody has claimed yet. As noted before, at Lava Point Campground, all sites are first-come-first-serve. • Lava Point Campground. If you arrive between May and September, there is a good chance that this campground is open. You can reach it off Kolob Terrace Road. To get there from Zion Canyon, plan to drive around 80 minutes to reach this point. From the other entrance, it takes about 45 minutes. There are only six primitive sites. This means that there are pit toilets and trash cans. However, there is no running water. If your car is longer than 19 feet, you cannot park there. • South Campground. This is one of the two campgrounds that allow for reservations. Call 877-444-6777 to plan ahead. Otherwise, arrive and hope for the best. This campground is closest to the park's south entrance. It accommodates three wheelchair-accessible sites and has a total of 117 sites. Although there are no hookups, there is a dump station as well as potable water. You may run your RV's generator between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. as well as between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. If you are eyeing a shaded side, your vehicle must be lower than 12 feet and six inches in height. If you are part of a group, you can take your vehicle there. • Watchman Campground. Also situated near the south entrance, Watchman Campground operates 178 sites that you can reserve in advance. Two of these sites are accessible. Moreover, this venue also has 18 tent-only sites that you cannot access with your vehicle. This is not a campground that allows generators even though several sites are reserved for RVs only.
