These growing trends in online education lead to another phenomenon. The average usage of online
tools, websites and technology increased by a large volume and distance education, thus far via postal
medium boomed on a large scale in the educational industry. Academicians and business analysts
discussed the pros and cons of online degrees and took a U turn as the major universities started
complete online degree programs. The commercial education market, thus far occupied by diploma
mills, started to transform into something more respectable. Colleges and Universities offered online
education validated by bonafide certifications and qualifications in mainstream courses from both liberal
and vocative spheres of academic learning.
Thus a trend in education that was considered only substandard became not only an acceptable
qualification, but a way out for the increasing issues of dropouts and lower proportion of higher
education in the US and EU. With Obama's educational policies, grants and aids for online education, the
position of online education as a valid means of knowledge was consolidated on par with regular
education.
