Danica: And why did you choose to come here?
Ms. Beth Wendt: I did not get to choose. I'm an English language fellow, and when I applied the Embassy picked the country for me. I did not get to choose. I still don't know why they picked me for this but I'm so glad they did because I'm very happy here.
Danica: Did you know about Serbia before? Did you have any opinions before you came here?
Ms. Beth Wendt: I've been asked that question many times. I knew about Serbia because I was a school principal for ten years in an international school, and there was a conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia in 2007. So I had been there and I have travelled to about 33 countries. I knew where it was. And nobody believes me, but I did not have any bad thoughts. I'm only second generation American, my grandmother was born in Odessa, the Ukraine and my grandfather was born in Moldova. So my family comes from similar area.
