" Have they not who disbelieve seen that the heavens
and earth were joined together (as one piece), then We parted them "
Anbiya 21:30
Allah Almighty in this verse has stated a mystery that was unknown to the greatest
physicists and astronauts for centuries. It reveals that heavens and earth at the
beginning were joined together and then subsequently they were sparated. This
phenomenon is now known as the Big Bang. It was proposed by Ralph Alpher, Hans
Bethe and George Gasmow in 1950. This leaves no doubt that it was described by a
some human back then, surely not. These are truly the words of Allah Almighty.
My enthusiasm in Astronomy was doubled when I found out that the most famous
theory of all time in Physics (special relativity ) has already been mentioned in
Quran. Allah the Exalted says:
" They ask you to hasten the punishment. Allah will no break
His promise. A day with your lord is equivalent to a thousand years in the
way you count "
Hajj
22:47
" The angels and the spirit ascend to Him in a day whose
length is fifty thousand years "
Ma'arj 70:4
Today, the theory of relativity has proved that time is a relative concept and that it
should change according to the environment. In 1905, Albert Einstein showed that
time is dependent on mass and velocity and is also dependent on the force of
gravity. It has now been showed that the time factor is not same in space as it is on
earth. Prof.Einstein explained it in a way that when you sit with your loved ones, an
hour feels like a minute but if you put your hand on a hot pan, even a minute feels
like an hour. This is relativity. I was astonished at first to realize that two things
which have same idea and are referring to the same thing but they have a complete
different time period. Now you can see that Quran acknowledges this concept of
relativity of time centuries before Einstein discovered it.
That's why , Astronomy is going to play an important role in my life and I will have
to use those special skills that my creator has given me to learn about His
extraordinary nature. When I look up at the night sky (actually I'm a star gazer)
