‫الخمس‬ ‫الجهات‬ Saudi Arabia in MWC 2019 MWC 2019 ‫في‬ ‫السعودية‬ Khaled Al-Sulaiman ‫السليمان‬ ‫خالد‬ Mobile World Congress 2019 (MWC) is the world's leading annual event for mobile operators, communication and data transfer technologies and artificial intelligence. There, I noticed that STC's booth greatly highlighted the Saudi identity and added a cultural dimension to its technical participation. The presence of a Saudi woman in her traditional Assiry dress as she paints on a canvas using the famous ancient art known as “Al-Qatt Al- Asiri” attracted many visitors into the booth and encouraged them to participate in the painting. In the meantime, a technical corner called “Saudi Arabia” took visitors on an amazing virtual journey through the plains, valleys and mountains of the Kingdom using VR glasses and a creative footage captured by a group of talented Saudi youth. In fact, STC deserves to be commended for including the Saudi national identity in its participation in the event, which came from a deep national sense rather than obligation. It is not the first time that I notice this, as I saw the “Vision 2030” slogan illuminate the advertisement bar surrounding the famous Real Madrid stadium at a football game I attended. This shows that STC allocates part of its valuable advertisement share as a sponsor of the club to introduce the national “Vision 2030” initiative. The company presented more of its on-going technical projects, including solutions and analysis of pilgrimage crowd management data during Hajj. In addition to linking the reading of electrical meters, the remote analysis of consumption data, and launch of5G networks which will enhance the use of data transfer technologies and keep pace with the fourth industrial revolution represented by artificial intelligence. In reality, this Saudi company was not representing itself in this important global forum as much as it was representing its country.
