Although there is several causes that cause bipolar disorder there is also treatments. Treatment helps many people even those with the most severe forms of bipolar disorder they gain better control of their mood swings and other bipolar symptoms. An effective treatment plan usually includes a combination of medication and psychotherapy. Different types of medications can help control symptoms of bipolar disorder. An individual may need to try several different medications before finding ones that work best. The medications that are usually used are mood stabilizers, atypical antipsychotics, and antidepressants. Furthermore, psychotherapy can provide support, education, and guidance to people with bipolar disorder and their families. Some of them used are cognitive behavioral therapy, family focused therapy, Interpersonal and social rhythm therapy, and Psychoeducation
Finally, there are several other treatments for bipolar disorder. For example, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) which can provide relief for people with severe bipolar disorder who have not been able to recover with other treatments. Moreover, some people might use sleeping medications because some people might suffer since they cannot sleep form this disorder so the sleeping medications might help.
