Social Media and Mental Health : A survey

Social media has become one of the most important parts of our lives to the extent that we rely on it for most of our daily activities. Even though it is very convenient and has improved our quality of life to a great extent, it had its drawbacks.

This survey conducted on AUC students examines whether social media leads to symptoms of depression in the long run, which may in fact lead to clinical depression in some cases.

This survey consists of 12 questions, which include demographic questions, and responses were completely anonymous. It was posted on university groups on social media and got 32 responses.

The questions were as follows:

5)Why do you use social media? Check all that apply

6)Has social media ever made you feel insecure?

7)If yes, please specify how?

8)Do you think social media can trigger depression?

9)Has social media ever made you feel envious or jealous of others?

10)Social media sets unrealistic examples for adolescents.

11) Are you experiencing any of these things? Check all that apply

12)If you have ever felt depressed, do you think that social media may have been the cause?
