STAY ON COURSE WITH GOD
In the days of Herod , wise men from the East came to Jerusalem asking , “ Where is He who has been born King of the Jews ? For we have seen His Star in the East , and have come to worship Him .” After weary centuries of waiting , the promised Light has come . Could it be true ? Filled with longing , they could not bear to hear of the prophecies alone , so they travelled far , following the Bright Morning Star who led them to Himself . As it was in the beginning , so it shall be at the end . It is promised that He will come again . Will we be ready for Him ? The One who is our song , inhabits our praise ; who tames our tempest , equips us in suffering , and bore on Himself the insignia of sacrifice that victoriously proclaimed , “ Death where is your sting ?” He is the only One worth following . Surrender to Him , love Him , serve Him , live for Him , and take His message wherever you go .
It is our privilege to glean from the Directors of YWAM Singapore ( YWAMSG ), past and present , as they paved the way and showed us what it means , and takes , to follow Him .
CLEAN UP , GO , & KEEP GOING
Be a people God can trust . Discipleship Training School ( DTS ) principles are vital . We need to walk in the light and keep short accounts with God and others . David did not always get things right , but he learnt as a shepherd-boy that God could be trusted , that God would help him fulfil his calling , even if the enemy came as a lion or a giant .
Go with God ' s leading . We may have to lay down our securities , preferences and / or ambitions . It implies a willingness to be misunderstood and / or take risks . Joseph did not do everything right . His pride over being favoured by his father nearly cost him his life at the hands of his own family . But God was at work , preparing him for a new country , new relationships , career ( s ), temptations , isolation , ( the last 2 did not look like God ' s leading ), and eventually the salvation of God ' s people .
Endurance . So many start out well . Not so many finish well . It does not do us any good to build a great foundation if the walls do not go up . I have watched the animated film , John Bunyan ' s The Pilgrim ' s Progress , with the grandkids . There are good reasons why it was the world ' s best-selling book for hundreds of years , next to the Bible . The road is long , full of distractions , temptations , enemies , and traps . But God is faithful . He will never leave or forsake us . At various times , I have had the privilege of planting bananas , papayas , plums , and berries . The pleasure of enjoying the fruit does not come overnight . It takes patience and loving care , as does pioneering or leading a ministry . But it is worth all the effort , even if the effort includes blood , sweat and tears .
