This report highlights key challenges and opportunities the building design industry will face in the coming decade. Below, we have identified overarching trends affecting the industry as a whole, as well as case studies of current solutions and innovations We found that rather than being a simple question of the latest technological or material advancements, the future of building design requires a careful consideration of how tools, practice and their integration fit into an evolving local and global context. In the coming decade, building design will be shaped by developments in the key areas of people, technologies and systems. An increasingly networked, specialised, and fluid workforce is reshaping our internal and external relationships. Technologies from other industries in both the design and construction of buildings are changing the processes and projects we undertake.
