NATURAL CAUSES OF CLIMATE CHANGE
We think of the climate we enjoy today as normal; however, the Earth’s climates are always changing. At times, Britain has been hot enough for hippos to live in Norfolk. At other times ice has covered the country for tens of thousands of years. Global climate change has usually occurred very slowly over thousands or millions of years. Today our climate is changing quickly by comparison. And the main natural causes can be divided by five sections which are orbital changes, volcanic eruptions, variation in solar radiation, movement of crystal plates.
Movement of crystal plates: When tectonic plates move on geologic time scales, land masses are transported to different locations and latitudes. These changes affect the global circulation patterns of air and ocean water and the climate of each continent. And the earth's crust can also cause volcanoes to form, which can change the climate.
variation in solar radiation: The sun's activity changes all the time, so does the earth's absorption of solar radiation, which leads to climate change.
