Debate
Homework, it has been around for a long time now but almost everyone is questioning should we or should we not have homework. In my personal opinion I think that homework is very beneficial.
In P1 sometimes it can be difficult for the parents to see how the school operates but with homework it is a whole lot easier. As P1 children are only new it can be very hard for some of the parents to catch on to how the school go about with their children’s work but homework makes it easier for them and doesn’t cause them any hassle.
Further to that, homework lets parents see and keep up with their children’s learning. Homework is very useful for children and their parents as well because if we didn’t have homework their parents would have no idea what their children are learning. So if children needed help from them they might not remember how to do it.
Finally, homework lets parents and children get together and spend some quality time together so if children did not have any homework and their parents worked a lot parents and children would hardly ever see each other. With homework parents and children can spend time with each other. For example one of the teachers from Lanark Primary School said that homework helps children and creates family time. Another teacher, Miss Andrews, said that she doesn’t like homework and thinks it is wrong because children need time to relax. I agree but we get very little homework, we do get time to relax.
To conclude, I am sure that lots of different people have lots of different opinions but for me I think children should have homework. Homework helps parents see how the school operates, homework lets parents see and keep up with children’s learning and homework lets parents and children create family time.
