A boy in a dress?
Gender? Sex? What's the difference?
Do you know the difference between ‘sex’ and ‘gender’?
‘Sex’ is what you are biologically born as – a boy or a girl.
‘Gender’ is what you identify as. Some people are born as a female but identify as a male; they feel that they should have been born a male – and vice-versa!
Kira from LGBT Youth Scotland has told us:
If there is more education in schools about gender and sexual orientation then people will be more aware of LGBTI+ identities. This will also mean that people will feel able to talk about their experience of gender or sexual orientation and will feel more included and visible.”
Clothing Colours
We are told that pink is normally for girls and blue is normally for boys, but is this true? We have researched this topic and we can report that this is wrong, we found out that when children are born generally their parents decide whether they wear blue or pink and often it all depends on their sex. In our society this is considered normal but should it be normal? What do you think?
