Aardman Animations was first created by two men, David Sproxton and Peter Lord who started their partnership through animating in school. The name Aardman Animations was first registered in 1972. After graduating they both moved to Bristol and created their fist professional animation production 'Morph'. Which they created for a children’s programme 'take hart'. In 1985 Nick Park joined the company full time and he went on to create some of the companies most popular shows,shaun the sheep and Wallace and Gromit. Due to the high frame rate running at 24 frames per second in Shaun the sheep this meant it take longer to make because the higher frame meant more pictures to take and more subtle the movement was between shots. Later on in 1986 they collaborated with Stephen Johnson and the Brothers Quay to create a new rock video named Sledgehammer. When created the video went on to win many awards that same year. In 1989 they were furthermore commissioned by Channel 4 to create a series of a 5 minute short films called 'Lip Synch'. In 1993 they Won an Oscar for 'The wrong Trousers', Through winning over 30 different awards it became at the time on of the most successful animated films. Aardman Animation continue to make animation films and TV shows and adverts, few of these include chicken run, flushed away and Aurther Christmas.
Tim Burton was born in California in 1958. He majored in animation at California institute of Arts. He then worked as a Disney animator before taking himself in charge of things. He started to become well known for themes around horror and fantasy. Some of his work include Edward scissor hands, Beetle juice and The nightmare before Christmas. In 1982 made an award winning short film could vincent and 2 years later he created a version of the Frankenstein Story called Frankenweenie and shortly after that he was commissioned by Paul Reubens to direct the comedy Pee-Wees adventures.After creating the most famous of his films Beetle Juice he created his own production company and he has continued to make many of films and earning many more awards such as the Empire Legend Award,Daytime Emmy for outstanding presentation for Edward scissor Hands ans a Hugo Award for Edward scissor hands.
Now animation is being used for a wide range of media purposes such as advertisement, E4 are very know with their animated sketches as they are unquie due to the flexibility of stop motion. Animated music videos are also produced as they can help tell a story and for the animated look. Gorillaz use this in their music videos and it gained a large audience with their unique animated music video.
