A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear Friends,
This is an exciting time for the Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville. As we face the challenges of our Congregation and the need to increase financial support for our Sisters, we are reminded of God’ s grace and look to our future with hope and joy.
We recently launched a new website and an online store to make shopping for prayer cards more convenient. We expanded the online giving and monthly gift programs and reorganized The Dominican Gala and The Beauty of the Spirit Luncheon in an effort to maximize funds and allow our small staff to focus on new initiatives. And finally, we expanded our planned giving and major gifts program and invited donors to make tax-wise donations that also benefit the Sisters.
Last month, the Sisters received the largest single gift in the history of the Congregation to support handicap accessibility of the Motherhouse. The project requires complete renovation of five restrooms in the building at a cost of more than $ 1 million. Although the $ 500,000 gift was anonymous, it has given us the boost to begin the construction and complete the fundraising for this important project. We are so grateful to our anonymous friend for this thoughtful gift.
This publication highlights the achievements and milestones of our Sisters. As you read about these dedicated women, you will see the countless ways that the Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville respond to the ever-changing needs of God’ s people.
The circle of Dominican friends continues to grow, and we have been truly blessed. On behalf of the Congregation, please know that our friends and benefactors, both living and deceased, are remembered daily in prayer.
