SPECIAL EVENTS UPDATE Our Annual Autumn Evening On October 27, 2015, our Dominican Autumn Evening honored Sisters Eileen Corcoran and Mary Jane Rolston, along with Kimon and Thomas Passios of Pinnacle Associates. The Crest Hollow Country Club lent itself to a very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere where old friendships were rekindled and new friendships formed. Guests enjoyed a festive evening complete with silent auctions and 50/50 raffles raising almost $140,000 for the Sister’s Ministry Support Fund. The Congregation’s Ministry Support Fund, was established to assist ministries in need of additional funding. Approximately $300,000 is distributed annually. Our ministries reach the most frail and vulnerable members of the human family—the elderly, the uneducated, the poor and women and children— and include St. Agnes Academic High School, College Point; Dominican Village, Amityville; Opening Word in Wyandanch, Amityville and Huntington Station; and North Fork Spanish Apostolate, Riverhead, to name a few. The Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville are blessed with many generous benefactors and friends, and a long legacy of extraordinary Sisters. Irish Night 2016 Irish Night 2016 raised over $55,000. This was possible with the help of so many who helped sell chance books in parishes, sought monetary donations and gift certificates, donated handmade items and other gift items for raffle baskets. Over 520 of our dearest friends and family enjoyed a grand evening filled with good food, wonderful entertainment, dancing and great prizes. Beauty of the Spirit Luncheon The Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville hosted the 15th Annual Beauty of the Spirit Luncheon at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY on Friday, June 24th 2016. Master of Ceremonies and News 12 Long Island Anchor, Carol Silva welcomed more than 610 loyal supporters and helped raise over $111,000 for the Congregation. Guests enjoyed fantastic raffles and prizes, as well as an inspirational lecture from keynote speaker, former teacher and principal, S. Joan Martin, OP, a leader in Catholic education in the New York region for more than 40 years. SISTERS OF ST. DOMINIC OF AMITYVILLE | 26
