Mirek Kvapil has been on a Czech skate scene for a while, when I was a kid I already knew the name from the lists of Board magazine. Nowadays he is running his own business and supports the local scene in a various ways. Lets read about his own aproach to building a DIY spots.
Introduction and background?
Hi, my name is Mirek Kvapil, I am 29 years old and coming from Prague, Czech republic. I have my own skateshop and small skate distribution, that is what I do for a living.
How did you get to building DIY skate spots?
First reasonable work has been done for project Insight Builders, which was printed in each issue of Board magazine. The brand Insight gave us a little money and we were able to play, hehe. In the end we created a lot of spots and it was an amazing experience. Then with my friends, we build a spot called DIY or CRY inside of a parking lot. But that one is destroyed already. Now we keep working on DIY playground and that is the one you can see on the pictures around.
