1990 was characterized by the presence of "dance music", followed around the world. The techno, hip hop and house music belong to this genre and in 90's becomes the "melodic" icon of adolescents. The techno belongs to EDM (electronic dance music) and it is divided into several distinct subgenera for sound, melody and rhythm. Hip hop started as a cultural movement in 1973 and IN nineties this genre trasformed the world of dance, clothing and music. The house is a genre of electronic music influenced by elements of disco and funk. another type of music that in this years made success is the hard rock.
Despite this, many post-grunge bands adopted a hard rock sound and in the 2000s there came a renewed interest in established bands, attempts at a revival, and new hard rock bands that emerged from the garage rock and post-punk revival scenes. Out of this movement came garage rock bands like The White Stripes, The Strokes, Interpol and, later on, The Black Keys. In the 2000s, only a few hard rock bands from the 1970s and 1980s managed to sustain highly successful recording careers.
