ACHIEVEMENTS ASIF’ s achievements can be summarised under three broad themes and the measured outcomes defined, as below: 1. Adoption and Commercialisation: Through ASIF’ s investment, the investee companies have been capacitated to increase adoption and commercialisation of new higher yielding and disease resistant varieties relevant to specific ecological zones. a. New varieties introduced and commercialised over the life of investment are: i. OPV Maize: Open Pollinated Varieties ii. Hybrid Maize iii. Legumes such as cowpeas, pigeon peas and green gram Overall increased investment in the commercialisation of improved varieties promotes research and development which strengthens the case of integrity of seed accessed by farmers
