HOSPITALITY SECTOR

ASAP Hospitality sector offered three courses in Regular and one course in Summer Skill Skool in Hotel subsector during the year 2014-15. In the year 2015-16 sector is planning to provide training for 75 batches comprising about 2500 – 3000 students under the courses-Food and Beverages – Steward, Front Office operations, Housekeeping Supervisor, Meeting, Conference and Event Planner, Food Production and Procurement Executive( Facility Management). Internships were offered in reputed firms and students were offered with placements in the firms such as Café Coffee Day, SunRise Hospital, Holiday resort, Inshad Institute, Elite International, Hotel Ramada and Hotel Saj Group.

Business Advisory Committee Meeting

The first Business Advisory Committee Meeting for Hospitality Sector was convened at Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram on 26th August 2015. Shri Ajith K( State Coordinator, HSS, ASAP), Programme Managers- Smt Asha. A L, Ms Lekshmi Priya, Shri Raja, Shri. Arun Upendra, Smt Aparna Sreekala and eight invited BAC members constituted the discussion panel.

The Tourism and Hospitality Sector is projected to grow by leaps and bounds in the coming years. Therefore it becomes imperative to have a skilled workforce catering to the growing needs of the industry across various subsectors in terms of quality and quantity. BAC committee discussed topics that could pave the way for ensuring this. Availing of part-time trainers from the industry was taken into consideration and positive responses were obtained from industry experts. Internship and placement along with identification of new job roles were the key discussion points. Assistance from industry experts for internship was offered from all ends.
