ELECTRONICS SECTOR
Electronics sector has 12 regular courses and 10 courses in SSS with1731 students
The Electronic sector of ASAP has offered courses in various subsectors including Consumer Electronics, IT Hardware, PCB assembly during the year 2014-15. Internships were offered to students by Whirlpool, Voltas, Godrej Smart care, Airtel, Tatasky, Videocon, TVS-e, UTL- Kerala, Cimtrix, Standard Automation and SAAB Engineering.
Business Advisory Committee Meeting
The first meeting of Business Advisory Committee for Electronics sector was convened at Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram on 13th July 2015 in the presence of Dr. K. M. Abraham CFA IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education & Social Justice Department Smt. Suseela James, Head – Technical, ASAP, Programme Managers, ASAP- Smt Deepthy, Ms Nimmy George, Shri Sujith and eight invited BAC members in the panel. Committee found out that as the industry is growing very fast, opportunities in the sector are also very high. Suggestions came up for the creation of a quality trainer pool. Experts from IEEE were suggested to be included in content development team to ensure quality. Providing financial support for trainers for level 5 and 6 of skill courses through government was suggested and was welcomed by the committee. Discussions on the‘ Make in India’ campaign, Choice Based Credit System, Value addition to organisations, Orientation on real-world work culture, Courses in Medical or Healthcare Electronics, Adding Mechanical skills to curriculum were also undertaken by the committee.
