Skill development is a national priority and a major driver of the Indian Economy. The early initiatives of the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme( ASAP) of the Government of Kerala has been a major factor in bringing Skill based initiatives to the national forefront. ASAP has successfully penetrated into the very fabric of the General and Higher Education in the State and it keeps influencing the lives of the thousands of families trying to raise their standards of living by educating their children for promising professions.
The benefits of ASAP to the mainstream education are also noteworthy. Emphasis on skill based education for enhancing student employability has motivated educational institutions across the state to think about new educational paradigms. The vital industry connect in designing curricula that ASAP has brought about in their programmes has paved way to a new culture of course designing in the higher education context. Moreover, the quality standards set by the programme has created new benchmarks in education in the state.
Three years of ASAP has created a great impact upon the career prospects of thousands of students across the State. This is quite evident from the placement record of the programme and the numerous examples of student employment in promising industry sectors. This report proudly showcases the many achievements of the programme during 2014-15, carefully achieved through intense planning and hard work.
After witnessing the spirit and zeal of this programme on many occasions including the convocation ceremony, I am optimistic about the fruitful result, which will drive our nation to the ultimate objective- development through a skilled populace. I take this opportunity to congratulate all the stakeholders for this sterling performance and wish the ASAP team a phenomenal year ahead.
