The great spectacle of Nature has been staged for centuries and has
always inspired man in his creations. Nature and, above all, its fauna
have allowed extraordinary artists to create works, which, on one
hand, pay homage, on the other it is as if they were trying to tame
what cannot be tamed. An attempt to capture that wild side that
captivates us so much and that, after thousands of years of evolution,
always remains inside each of us. Looking through the mirror to
recognize in our eyes a primal instinct that is perhaps our sixth sense.
What is there of more magnetic, sensual and visceral than looking
straight into the eyes of a tiger? There is nearly the risk of getting
lost in that pure, supreme, majestic absolute, because, as the German
philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche used to say, “When you look into
the abyss, the abyss looks into you”. An abyss made of something that
is beyond us because as much as we try to curb and chain it with our
lust for domination, Nature is a tremendous force capable of annihi-
lating those who dare to challenge it. So what do we really see when
we admire on the catwalk authentic haute couture masterpieces with
animal prints and accessories that depict faces of wild animals like
sculptures? We see man who finally accepts being just a man, and
who, at peace with himself and the world around him, finally admires
the century-old beauty that has seduced and will seduce many people
because, after all, our instinct, whispers that the clearest way into
the Universe is through a wild forest. Crossing it, we will find new
answers and we will have new questions, making our true innermost
self emerge. Even home design celebrates Nature and, above all,
the beautiful creatures that dwell therein: from zebras to leopards,
lynxes, and multicolored butterflies. Because Nature is not a place to
visit. It is our home. It is us. And the eye of the tiger is in our look.
