LETTER FROM THE EDITOR bit ’ ter-sweet : pleasure mixed with sadness
The rapidly approaching ending of this semester tastes so sweet to me but also bitter .
My time here is just about up . The three years have flown by in less time that I could have imagined . When I arrived here , I was all set to follow a path into criminal justice but at some point along the way , I switched my major to Mass Communication .
Here is where I believe I developed my true talent . The Mass Communication department was where I ’ ve experienced fellowship among my peers , made lasting friends and learned what it is to be an independent--sometimes dependent-- strong young lady into today ’ s world . I ’ ve had many trials and tribulations throughout my years here at B-CU , but I have to admit it has been all worth it .
The thought of this being my last issue as editor of the campus it both heart warming and filled with joy and pride . Throughout all of the hard times of having to meet deadlines and fill empty pages , I managed to preserve and remain solid like concrete .
Or to put it another way , “ You never know how strong you can be until being strong is the only choice you have left .” That refrain from Tupac Shakur keep me going many a night when it seemed that day would never come . This is also why I decided to shoot this cover in a rose field ! Meanwhile , you can ’ t get ahead if you don ’ t look ahead . This issue is filled with summer adventures , healthy living , new entertainment , and new trends . It was only right we ended this semester , knowing what ’ s going to be coming after .
Finally , as rapper J . Cole would say “ There ’ s beauty in the struggle .” This is not the end . This just the beginning of a new journey … a new phase … and a great destiny .
