The “unbarred” or lenticular galaxy M104 displays
a bright central bulge and a prominent dust lane
in mid-sized telescopes. Its common name results
from its striking resemblance to the classic Mexi-
can wide-brimmed hat.

graph with FLI ProLine PL16803 CCD camera. Total
exposure: 4 hours through color fi lters.
