Ireland Research Centres INFANT and APC are also
pioneering the Cork Nutrition and MicroBiome
Maternal-Infant Cohort study (COMBINE). The study
will monitor the nutrition and development of infants
over the first 24 months of life. The study will allow
scientists to determine the effects of diet on early
growth, development and body composition, with an
eye towards monitoring early obesity and neurological
health outcomes. They are also focused on the gut
microbiome and the affect of antibiotic use in early life.
