Introduction
My practice during this FMP will be adapted to several roles, animator and story development. My style will be
2D animation, in Portfolio I wanted to experiment in character performance in 2D animation, I am looking forward to
continually progressing and pushing myself. I want my format to be a short animation/story.
For my FMP I would like to create something as a personal project for myself. I want to challenge myself in creating
an experimental animation that is inspired by the National Trust as an advocate of it’s amazing work. I want to make
something that embodies its preservation of natural beauty. I would also like to emphasise their campaign of making
children wild.
I will create a 2D animation (developing concept art and the story), to fit into several studios I have identified
wanting to work in. During my research at Portfolio.
I want to put into place aims which will motivate me to work the best I can for the two terms. Using the research I
did in Portfolio, I can use the industry practice to identify what studios are looking for.
-
To push my storytelling skills in a simple/short story and understand how filmic language/
concept art can help me push my story telling.
-
I would like to collaborate professionally. Working with music and sound.
-
I want to develop my character animation skills, specifically my character performance
understanding the way a body moves. I want to learn to animate a quadruped and children.
My hypothesis is that I will be trying to achieve a narrative 2D animation which pushes my character animation skills.
I see myself growing more confident with collaborating with sound and music, and respecting there workflow. I
see myself creating a piece that is around 50 seconds long inspired by the work the National trust does, and the
campaign which sees children growing more wild. I will tell a story clearly and simply. I do not want to put to much
work on myself, but I want to challenge myself. Therefore ensuring that the piece is not too long I can use the extra
time to really polish certain elements, such as the character animation which I hope to create and finalise for this
project. I hope to achieve a short story inspired by the National trust’s, 50 things to do before your 11 3/4. I will
be creating concept art and storyboards which will lend me to be experimental in the way I can tell a story.
The challenges for me is working with animating an animal and a child, which I have yet to do.I want to use anima-
tion to inspire, highlighting and trying to promote conservation and it’s importance in Britain. I think it is amazing how
animation can be translated in so many different disciplines, therefore I would love to promote how it could be
used for conservation. The innovation is campaigning to improve the health of children, making them more wild and
hopefully making their imaginations even more wild. Also bringing attention to animals that are under threat in Britain.
