neighbourhood editors, Get Up and Dance is
all about helping you to dance your way up,
providing useful bites of information to help
you get up and dance better than ever. Have
any of your own helpful tips, exercises,
moves (anything really) that helped you and
you would like to share? Let your friendly ed-
itors know and we will try to get it in the
next issue! Want to take your dancing to the next level?
Improving flexibility can help you get there,
but how do you go about it? Here are some
tips when stretching to become more limber.
Stretch regularly. If you don’t use it, you
loose it, so stretching most days is needed
to make an improvement.
Stretch when warm. Stretching cold mus-
cles can easily cause injury, so if you’re not
warm, go for a jog before stretching.
Relax into it (and out of it). Try to relax
your muscles as you stretch them and you
will find you can go a bit further. Also, you
can injure yourself if you contract over-
stretched muscles, so try to keep muscles
relaxed when coming out of the stretch.
Use your breathing. Stretch a bit further as
you breath out, hold yourself there as you
breath in, and then stretch a bit further
again as you breath out and repeat.
