2017 Student Profile VTOS Further Education and Training Centre. Carlow Road, Athy, Co Kildare. Before I started VTOS I was a bit nervous, and afraid that I would be overwhelmed by the whole experience. However the experience was great and the staff were very good at putting me at ease. After a couple of days, I felt like I had been here for ages. I have definitely benefited from returning to education, it has given me a purpose again. I feel like I am moving forward in a positive way. It’s been a very positive experience; I’d recommend it to anyone who is thinking of doing the same. Barry Whyte , Art, VTOS Athy I originally returned to learning to educate myself, so that I could work with the elderly. As a full-time parent in the home for a long number of years, it was a scary experience. Also, I was not from the area, so I didn’t know a lot of people. When I started I was very nervous but I soon realised that a lot of people were in the same situation, and as the time went on we formed great Friendships and supported one another in the work we had to do. As a 38-year-old, it’s been a long time since I wrote or worked on assignments. I struggled to express my writing on paper at first but I think I’ve overcome that now. I found this whole experience thoroughly enjoyable and would recommend it to others. Caroline O’Halloran, Nursing Studies, VTOS Athy I was happy and excited about returning to education, and it proved to be a great life experience. All the staff and students were helpful and made me feel welcome. I have really benefited from the experience and would recommend it to others. SK 84 Claire Bracken , Nursing Studies, VTOS Athy
