Specialist Training
Providers (STP)
Vocational training and employment
of people with disabilities, for the open
labour market is the responsibility of the
DES (Department of Education and Skills).
Administration of this responsibility has been
assigned to KWETB.
KWETB supports STPs in the provision of
learner-focused training and related services,
to assist individuals to enter or re-enter the
labour market. STPs address the identified
training needs of people with disabilities
who are experiencing exclusion and labour
market disadvantage in the form of vocational
training programmes. These programmes are
offered at QQI Level 3 to Level 5.
KWETB contract with 2 Specialist Training
Providers in 3 centres to deliver training
courses to people with disabilities who
require more intensive support than would be
available in non-specialist training provision:
• NLN, First Floor, Naas Town Centre, Naas,
Co Kildare
• NLN, Boghall Road, Bray, Co. Wicklow
• Festina Lente Enterprises, Old Connaught
Avenue, Bray, Co. Wicklow

KWETB is committed to the provision of
training programmes that are delivered to
the highest standards and are relevant to the
identified needs of learners.
Specialist Training Providers remove or
overcome barriers which, in other training
environments learners with disabilities
encounter disproportionately. These are
addressed and met through:
• needs relating to access
• needs relating to training content and
duration
• non-occupational training-related needs
