Bray and North Wicklow Youthreach
Michaela Desmond
My name is Michaela Desmond and I am
currently a finishing student in Bray and North
Wicklow Youthreach. I started my time in
Youthreach in January 2014. I had been out
of school for over a year and wanting to do
something with my life, I knew education was
necessary.
This is where Youthreach came in. During
my time here, I have completed a General
Learning course which includes subjects such
as Communications and Maths which have
given me the necessary skills to continue
in education, Work Experience which has
alloWed me to prepare for interviewing and
entering college and the workforce in the
future and a variety of other subjects including
I.T, Woodwork & Childcare. I have also been
able to complete such programmes as NFTE,
Safe Pass and WWGS as well as so many more.
Youthreach has changed my life dramatically.
It has given me a second chance to achieve
what I want in life and I have now been
accepted to college. It has also alloWed me to
grow as a person, to become more confident,
to gain skills and to be a better person. I have
made lifelong relationships from my time here
– Friends, love and teachers who have become
mentors. My time in Youthreach has been the
most valuable experience of my life so far and
the only regret I have is that it is coming to
an end.
