In Felix Gonzalez Torres
Derrida ’ s “ L ’ avenir ” becomes evident in Samuel
‘ Untiltled ’ ( Perfect Lovers )
Beckett ” s Waiting for
1987-1990 , one can find both Godot . The essence of the Derrida ’ s ‘ Future ’ and ‘ L ’ avenir ’. It is play is the wait for something uncertain . The char- certain that the clocks will stop some time but what is unknown is acters wait for someone which clock will stop first and when . who they hope will come and solve their problems
In the same way we all know that but they cant be sure that we are going to die but what is it will happen . uncertain is when and how .
The play shows how the characters pass the time as they wait and the strategies they use to cope with the uncertainty .
Waiting for Godot , is successful in bringing together multiple readings of waiting and time and evidences the perceived slowness and dragging of time when one wishes to move on but can ’ t . The characters find ways to forget the wait in order to be able to avoid the perception of time as “ Slow Going ”.
Vladimir : Ah yes , two thieves . Do you remember the story ?
Derrida ’ s ‘ future ’ is also evident in Newark to London ( 26.02.16 ), a piece that I made during a train journey from Newark to London . I attempted to make a pen mark in the back of the train ticket for each second passed .
Estragon : No .
Vladimir : Shall I tell it to you ?
