IMPACT OF TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP ON
JOB SATISFACTION AND ORGANIZATIONAL
COMMITMENT OF NURSES IN TURKEY
Background: Transformational leadership of nurse managers plays a significant
role in nurses' job satisfaction and organizational commitment. However, little
research related to this subject has been conducted in healthcare settings in
Turkey. Aims: To examine the impact of transformational leadership of nurse
managers on job satisfaction and organizational commitment of clinical nurses
from hospitals in Turkey. Methods: Cross-sectional study design was used. The
sample consisted of 153 nurses (17 nurse managers; 136 clinical nurses). Data
were collected from January to June 2015. Research instruments included a
demographic data form, a Leadership Practice Inventory, and a Job Satisfaction
Scale and an Organizational Commitment Scale for clinical nurses. Results: It was
found that nurse managers self-assessments on total leadership practices
(4,32±0,39) were higher than assessments of clinical nurses' assessments
