A travel report – The Brijuni Adventure
On the 17 th September 2016 the sixth graders and a group of third and seventh graders accompanied by their teachers visited the Brijuni National Park. It was a reward for being part of the humanitarian activities. It was really great and we had a lot of fun.
1. Curious, excited and, of course, sleepy, we were on our way to Istria. Unfortunately, one of the buses broke down so we needed to stop.
2. We stopped near Ravna Gora to have some rest and wait for the new bus. We bought sandwiches, cans of coke, candy, croissants and talked. It was OK for the first hour, but as the time went by, we were becoming a little nervous. Where is the bus? 3. Finally! The bus arrived! Istria, we are coming! 4. After a long trip, we finally arrived to Fažana. Fažana is a small charming coastal town near Opatija. We relaxed on the beach, bought some souvenirs at the local shop. Then we went to the port and the ship was already there. Its name is“ Veli Brijun” which is also the name of the biggest island in the Brijuni national park.
5. The ride was surprisingly short, approximately ten minutes. We were all pretty excited about the island tour; we waited so long for this trip and it was finally there.
6. The tourist trains were waiting for us. We got on and started our tour. Although it was a cloudy day, the island was really nice. We saw some golf courts and some beautiful beaches( swimming was forbidden). We also saw deers. It was fascinating! There was even a ZOO. I saw the Istrian bull( boškarin), some horses, zebras, and Indian elephant called Lanka and a sea turtle. We also saw a cacadu, the bird that Tito gave to his granddaughter as a birthday present. Even the Zagreb ZOO has no elephants! As we went on, we saw some ancient roman ruins which tell us that the Romans knew about the island. There were a few beautiful villas, too. The funny thing was that we saw bunch of huge golf field, but nobody was actually playing! The tour was almost over, but we had one more place to visit: the Brijuni museum and the famous black Cadillac, of course!
7. After such a day you would expect us to be tired. That was not the case. We had a DJ in the bus( Kiki did a great job!) Atmosphere: fantastic! We were singing, talking and we really enjoyed it! My classmate( I will not mention his name) stood up and began dancing with the classmistress! As you can see, we had a lot of fun.
8. Home, sweet home!
We are back in Zagreb, super-sleepy and exhausted, but happy. What an adventure!
