TRADITIONAL GAMES Examples of games Example of game 3 - Turkey Example of game 4 - Turkey MEETING BALL Teacher looks around for a ball but can't find it because all of the balls are hidden. Teacher asks if anyone saw the ball. He/she asks children to make the ball out of a newspapers. First the teacher says his/her own name and introduces himself/herself then throws the ball at a child and asks the child to introduce himself/herself. The game goes on like this. The game is enriched with gestures and facial expressions. Later on the game the children tell what they feel about coming to school. DROP THE HANDKERCHIEF An ''it'' is chosen by counting. All of the players form a circle facing inward. ''It'' puts the handkerchief behind of a player and sings a song while turning around the circle. ''I sell oil, I sell honey. My master died, I must now sell them. My master's fur is yellow. I sell it for 15 liras. Zam-bak, zum-bak. Look carefully behind you. Players look their behinds. The player whom the handkerchief is put his/her behind takes it and chases the ''it''. If ''it'' sits the position of the player without getting caught the player who took the handkerchief becomes ''it'' and the game goes on like this. The game called ''meeting ball'' drew the attention of children considerably. They participated in the game willingly. Thanks to this game the children expressed themselves in a better way. The purpose of the game is achieved successfully. The targeted achievements are gained successfully. The game attracted the attention of pupils and active participation of pupils is provided. Pupils and teacher had a good time. A proper environment is provided for children to know and befriend each other. Since the game is mobile it enabled them to develop their movement skills and consume their energy. 33
