Being two of cial languages in our school (Italian and
Croatian) we present our alphabets. Italian with 21 letters Our Alphabet is called Cyrillic. It has 30 letters. Our letters
were created by the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius at
and Croatian with 30. the end of the 9th or early X century. We Bulgarians are
proud of their work. Nowadays, the Cyrillic Alphabet is
widespread among the southern and eastern Slavic peoples
as well as among some non-Slavic peoples in Russia. The
Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and the Slavonic
Scriptures is a Bulgarian of cial holiday celebrated on May
24th. On this day Bulgaria celebrates Bulgarian education,
culture and the creation of the lphabet of Cyril and
Methodius, also known as the Thessalonian brothers.
Portuguese Alphabet
Portuguese orthography is based on the Latin Alphabet,
which was brought to the Iberian Peninsula by Roman
soldiers, settlers and merchants from 218 BC.c It has 26
letters and is a Romance language spoken by about 220
million people mainly in Portugal and Brazil (Brasil), and also
in Angola, Mozambique (Moçambique), Cape Verde (Cabo
Verde), Guinea-Bissau (Guiné-Bissau), São Tomé e Principe,
East Timor (Timor-Leste), Equatorial Guinea and Macau.
There are also communities of Portuguese speakers in Goa,
Daman and Diu in India, and in Malacca in Malaysia.
