COMPARISON OF PERCEPTION POSSIBILITIES OF
IMPLEMENTING EBP AMONG DOCTORS AND
NURSES IN CROATIA
Nursing literature documents the significant importance of EBN, the data show
that 85% of the current practice is not scientifically confirmed. Identified barriers
for implementing EBN include lack of time to synthesize knowledge, negative
attitudes towards research and EBP lack of skill to search the literature, access to
the internet lack of authority to change practice. The objective was to investigate
the views of the real application of the method of practice based on scientific
evidence in the everyday clinical work and compare the differences in the barriers
that hinder the implementation in practice. The study will use two types of
methods. Two authors in 2010 doing research on the attitudes of health personnel
in one hospital in Croatia of EBM. The study included 204 doctors, in response to
a questionnaire on attitudes. Results of this research troughs for comparison in
this study. Similarly study whether the nurses we spent in two clinics in Zagreb, on
a sample of 120 nurses. Used the same validated questionnaire. Doctors and
nurses considered important introduction of EBP in everyday practice in working
with patients. But nurses consider their greatest barrier lack of quality
organizations in health institutions. In fact a lot of time they lose on jobs that are
not related to the health care of patients than with solving organizational failures.
At the same time, nurses believe they have sufficient knowledge to perform the
research and application of EBN in practice. It opens the door to education on
research and leadership changes.
