urrently, 126 Sisters reside at the Motherhouse in
Amityville. The average age of a Dominican Sister is
82 years old. Facing the realities of an aging population,
the Sisters have taken every step to plan for retirement.
They are working at reducing costs, consolidating services,
and, whenever possible, securing available government
programs and subsidies.
The Motherhouse is in need of some major renovations.
Our Sisters are seeking funds for the following:
St Dominic’s Chapel Restoration
• Window protection for stained glass
• Remove and install roof and shingles
• Remove and replace copper gutters and leaders
• Refurbish bell tower
• Restore interior pews
• Repaint the interior walls and exterior façade
(Estimated Cost: $90,000)
St. Albert’s Chapel – Pipe Organ
