NEW in My Fertility Specialist magazine Editor and founder Sheila Lamb Welcome When I look back twelve or so years ago to when our journey started, boy there have been many changes! In fact, even a couple of years ago the picture was quite different. One big change is the availability of support, especially counselling and coaching. Yes counselling was around when we were going through our journey but we didn’t think we needed it and of course, it was another expense on top of medications, scans, blood tests and the actual treatment. With hindsight, it would’ve been helpful in many areas – understanding that my feelings were normal, how important it is to communicate with the one’s you love, not to be hard on myself and stop blaming myself. Had fertility coaching been around – and this is a new positive change – I definitely would’ve sought out a coach. If you’ve been wondering whether a coach or a counsellor can help you, wherever you are, on your journey, then you really must read pages 14-18 as we interviewed experienced coaches and counsellor. One massive part of everyone’s journey that will never, ever, change from being the most horrible time ever is coping with a negative pregnancy test after an IVF cycle. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first, fifth or eighth cycle, it doesn’t get any easier, and only someone who has been through this can possibly understand. Rachel Campbell from Sprout&Co shares on pages 20-22 her ‘Top 6 Tools’ for dealing with IVF heartbreak – from dealing with your ‘WTF Blow’ to ‘Giving Grief Time’. Everyone of us who has experienced this devastating disappointment shows great resilience and courage and strength and I’m sure Rachel’s tools will be very useful. Our competition winner from the last issue is Maria Banti, Clinical Embryologist working at Orchid Reproductive and Andrology Services clinic in Dubai Healthcare City. She said she is so pleased that she has won the book and is really looking forward to reading it. Well done Maria! Wishing baby dust to you all.
