Sugarland Learning Academy
Members of the Police Department ' s Special Operations Unit were enthusiastically welcomed by students and staff at Sugarland Learning Academy . Officers presented an overview of the Airports Authority ' s Police Department , including a K-9 demonstration and tours of an armored tactical vehicle , cruisers and police motorcycles .
Fire Prevention Week
As part of Fire Prevention Week , two Airports Authority firefighters spoke to students and staff at Sugarland Learning Academy about fire safety and provided them with an overview of their gear and responsibilities . Students were able to check out a fire engine as well . Fire crews also spoke with airport patrons about fire safety and handed out information .
Washington Regional Alcohol Program
A police corporal was recognized at the annual Washington Regional Alcohol Program holiday party for his efforts at preventing drunken and underage driving .
43rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Rodeo
The Airports Authority Police Department motorcycle unit participated in the 43rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Rodeo . Motorcycle units from around the United States came to show off their skills in multiple speed and precision challenge courses .
