3 days, 2 hearts, 1 ever after
For Madi and Austin Smith, one day would never have been enough. Their wedding weekend at GlassHaus Weddings in Blue Eye, Missouri, was more than a ceremony— it was the full unfolding of their story. Over three days, two hearts became one ever after.
Though they first crossed paths in high school, Madi and Austin reconnected years later when he called to ask her on a date.“ That night, I went home and told my best friend,‘ I just went on my last first date,’” Madi remembers. What struck her most was not only his kindness or calm presence— it was his visible love for Jesus.
Austin was drawn to Madi’ s devotion to family— especially how she cared for her mom and grandmother.“ That’ s what made me fall for her,” he says.
He proposed at one of Madi’ s favorite college hideaways overlooking Table Rock Lake, with his cousin and her best friend secretly capturing the moment. The engagement began a two-year planning season— a dream Madi had been imagining since childhood and one she shared side by side with her mom.
GlassHaus Weddings was both the first and last venue they toured. From the moment they stepped onto the property, they knew they had found something truly special— a one-of-a-kind space where their loved ones could share an experience they would remember for years to come. The lakeside views were breathtaking, and the cathedral-like windows sealed their decision.
Photography came next. Shelby Chanté Photography’ s warm personality and candid, artistic style perfectly matched their vision.“ They didn’ t just capture our day— they became part of it,” Madi shares.
The most meaningful collaborator was Madi’ s mother. A natural planner with an eye for detail, she brought each vision to life— from floral arrangements to welcome boxes. Years before marriage was even a thought, Madi had pointed to an arrangement her mom made in a vintage ivory pitcher and said,“ Don’ t ever take that apart— that’ s exactly what I want my wedding flowers to look like.” Fifteen years later, her mom brought that memory to life— creating each floral piece by hand: lush hydrangeas, soft roses, and botanical draping nestled in vintage pitchers they’ d spent months collecting.
Their weekend aesthetic felt effortlessly elegant— soft blush tones, airy whites, and natural accents woven through every space, from the floral arch to the reception tables. Festivities began with a terrace-side rehearsal dinner bathed in golden evening light. The event’ s“ Margs & Matrimony” theme set a joyful tone, followed by an after-party showing a nostalgic favorite in TreeHaus Village. Saturday morning opened with hair and makeup by Beloved Beauty Co. for the ladies, while the guys watched baseball in their custom jerseys and hats, making everyone feel like part of Austin’ s team both on and off the field.
Before the ceremony, guests were welcomed with refreshing mocktails before taking their seats by the lake. Candles flickered down the aisle as sunlight streamed through the glass walls, framing a floral cross of ivory blooms and cascading foliage. Set against the serene backdrop of Table Rock Lake, the ceremony became a heartfelt expression of the couple’ s faith and devotion. Escorted first by her uncles and then given away by her mom, Madi made her way down the aisle— radiant and steady— each step a testament to the love surrounding her.
Her look was timeless: a mikado silk with a sculpted neckline, delicate pearl details, and a low, swept-back bun that mirrored the day’ s refined simplicity.
Their vows included handwritten promises, scripture readings, and a prayer of blessing from a family friend. The officiant, a close mentor, shared stories from their courtship and reminded everyone that marriage is both a sacred covenant and a shared adventure.
After sealing their vows with a kiss and joyful applause from the crowd, Madi and Austin walked together up the aisle, beaming. It was everything they wished for— timeless, sentimental, and uniquely theirs.
Cocktail hour featured vintage lounge seating— all repainted and reupholstered by Madi’ s mom to match the ivory, blush, and bashful palette. Guests mingled among soft candlelight, blush accented tablescapes, and playful touches like a“ Press for Champagne” station. Handcrafted signature drinks and passed hors d’ oeuvres were served by the GlassHaus bar and catering team. Dinner followed in the grand reception hall, glowing under the cathedral windows, where textured blush linens and monogrammed M | A plates framed each setting. Tables were graced with florals, handmade bread, and a family tradition: Pa’ s Ugly Sauce. Madi’ s late grandfather’ s recipe was lovingly recreated by her uncles and served on every table.
When two caterers fell through, Madi’ s school cafeteria coworkers stepped in as their gift to the bride. They took over the wedding meals and delivered a feast guests are still raving about.“ Between honoring my Pa’ s memory and having my school family serve us with love, our wedding meal was so much more than food— it was family, heart, and legacy all on one plate,” she shares.
The night continued with speeches, dancing, Venetian hour, a latenight snack, and a sparkler send-off— but the weekend wasn’ t over yet. On Sunday, a cozy brunch brought everyone together one last time. Guests enjoyed coffee from Vintage Paris, a lakeside worship service led by one of Austin’ s childhood friends, and brunch by Chef Kyle at GlassHaus that closed the weekend beautifully. As string lights twinkled over the terrace and the lake reflected the fading sun, the celebration ended just as it began— with laughter, gratitude, and deep love.
