For we are all doomed in this little world of ours.

Doomed to rot in our magnificence.

A Sleepless Night by Carley Odneal

Lying awake at night in the silence,

Twisting, turning, trembling, feeling unbalanced.

Getting lost in my head with these thoughts so deep,

Good god, why can’t I just get some sleep?

Face burning up, I’m on fire!

For you to be here is all I desire.

Eyes full of tears, I don’t know how to feel

Lord, don’t you hear me I cannot be concealed!

Prayers never answered I knew this was a joke

Why, oh why do I give in to such hoax?

Mind going wild like a bird in a cage,

Just let me out I refuse to change!

I can’t stand to hear this violence

As I’m lying awake at night in the silence.

Teenager by Lara Ulstad

I want to shout,

Not sure at what,

But I know I want to.

Food would be nice right now.

I want to sleep,

But not in my bed.

Maybe in math class.

I want to dream,

But only during the day.

I want to talk to people,

And share others’ secrets

Maybe a few of my own.

I want to go to my favorite teachers

And high five a random kid in the hallway.

I want to eat food

‘Cause I really like food.

I want to look at my phone for a few hours.

Not sure what I’d do,

But I’ll do it.

Might stay up ‘til 2 am

‘Cause I can.

And then I want to go back to sleep.

I want to go to my favorite teachers

And high five a random kid in the hallway.

I want to eat food

‘Cause I really like food.

I want to look at my phone for a few hours.

Not sure what I’d do,

But I’ll do it.

Might stay up ‘til 2 am

‘Cause I can.

And then I want to go back to sleep.
